Weekend Trip to Atlanta

The reason for our trip was to go watch Illinois play again. They played UGA which is in Athens, but the game itself was at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth. I would say 90% of the people there were Illinois fans. Lots of orange in the stands and we even got the I-L-L chant going a few times...and it was loud. Despite the huge amount of fans there cheering for the orange and blue, they lost and here are their losing faces.

Dinner after the game.
I swear I was there, I even had my orange on.

We stayed at a pretty nice hotel.

I picked it solely on the fact that it had this little extra sitting area.

It was seperate from our sleeping quarters so it helped in setting up the pnp.

Here was Lane on his nap I blogged about here.

After a nap and some lunch we headed into downtown Atlanta to the Children's Museum.

He absolutely loved this shopping cart.

He is SO my son. While he does look like he's enjoying this tractor ride, he did not. He was a little cautious and afraid of it.

Taking a ride in the grocery truck.

Working the fork lift.

This was another favorite of his.

Back to the shopping cart. He pushed that thing all over the museum!

Sitting in the pig pen, in between some chicken coups.

The sand area.

(In case you are wondering if I was at the museum...proof=those are my legs right there.)

He is not a fan of slides.

Working in his organic garden.

Playing with the giant train village.

When we got home we put one of his Christmas gifts on him.

An arts-n-crafts/baking apron.

It cracked me up!

Cheese!

Let me set this up for you

We're in a hotel room, somewhere in Georgia. Pretty close to Atlanta, I believe it's Duluth. We're sitting on the bed showered and dressed for the day with our shoes on watching that movie with Will Smith where he plays a homeless man and ends up a millionaire. Neither one of us can remember the name but it doesn't really matter because we can't hear it over the white noise blaring over Matts iPhone. (I knew that app would come in handy someday!) Anyway, Lane, we think, has finally fallen asleep but not before laying him down a half dozen times, draping his blanket over the side of his pnp so he can't see us, and using the comforter from the bed as a drape over the desk chair and his stroller so the flashing lights from the tv don't disturb him. And as I mentioned we think he's sleeping but neither one of us are brave enough to walk over there to check. And I just elbowed Matt for coughing!

As you have probably gathered, Lane is a rock star when it comes to sleeping, BUT the conditions have to be just right. He's not the type that would fall asleep while being held in any place other than his room while being rocked. He's too darn nosy and doesn't want to miss anything. Gee I wonder where he gets that!

We have plans to visit the Childrens Museum in Atlanta later today, which is why we're hoping for a decent nap before check-out. Which reminds me...I wonder what time check-out is?? Hopefully housekeeping doesn't come knocking before our sleeping beauty wakes...oh the joys of staying in a hotel with a wee one!

And now I have a hand cramp from typing this post on the tiny keyboard on my phone.

Victorious Illini!

So we went to the game last night and ended up seeing a GREAT game. The 1st half was horrible. We were all looking at each other at half time like...what the heck!?! There was a group of about 7 guys behind us, all Illinois fans as well. And a few scattered about in our section. So we had a small cheering section and other fans to high five!

We went to a bar for dinner before the game. We were with a few other people from CAT and surprisingly only 2 Clemson fans out of our group...the rest pulling for Illinois. So we had nice representation of Illinois apparel!

Lane went with us...the smallest Illini fan and he was awesome. Had fun with everyone at dinner and really took all the sights and sounds in at the game. He switched back and forth between Matt and I during the game and just had a really great time. He wasn't a handful at all. I was expecting him to maybe want to get down and walk around, but nope. He was so happy and content to sit in our laps? and watch what was going on around.

The car ride there.

We had a bunch of extra seats in our row so Lane got his own...when he wanted.

After an Illini win...Lane a little overwhelmed by the excitement.

Final score

Jammies for the car ride home.
