We're in party prep mode and my family thinks I'm certifiably crazy! I have to admit...I probably am! BUT I figured if I'm gonna throw a party...I might as well THROW A PARTY!

Just a taste of what's it's been like here:

YES, I am still pregnant...trust me...I feel pregnant in almost everything I do. 2 weeks ago I had an appointment, the dreaded glucose test, and after the appointment I was scheduled to come back in another 2 weeks. Guess what? That 2 weeks has come and gone. I know! Apparently my test came back fine, as I received no news. And where I'm from...NO news is GOOD news!

So I am now on an every 2 week schedule. This Friday marks 32 weeks. Does anyone know where this summer has gone? That means 8 weeks until the end of September, which is when I am due. The end of September is FALL...wha????
Here's an ariel view of the belly:

2-the number of children I will have in the Fall...I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that!
2-the number of times in one day that Matt tells me how excited he is for the baby to get here...
2-the number of panic attacks I have after he reminds me...just kidding...sort of...
2-the number of bathrooms I cleaned this morning.
2-the number of hours Lane slept this afternoon. (I was not too happy) because...
2-was the number of things I was able to check off my list while he was sleeping...one included eating lunch and the other publish my newsletter...neither of which has gotten me any progress toward getting ready for our trip home tomorrow!
2-the number of sandwiches I had for lunch!
2-the number of times I usually get up to go to the bathroom at night.
2-the number of feet I have...they're really there, I just can't really see them.

Photobucket

2-the number of scabs Lane has on his forehead just in time for his big 2nd birthday party!
Photobucket

2-the age my baby is about to turn...8/02 is the big day...can anyone tell me where the past 2 years has gone?!?!

Call out the troops!

There's an escapee on the loose....

I was laying in bed this morning, organizing my calendar in my phone and making notes to get ready for our trip home this week when I heard what sounded like Lane kicking his crib rail...

I didn't think much of it because he does it from time to time. I then thought I heard little tiny footsteps, but they were really faint so I ignored them. Pretty soon over the monitor was the sound of a car horn and some music from a toy that I knew he did not go to bed with last night. So I got out of bed to further investigate. When I walked upstairs....I found this....

Photobucket

I was just talking with another mom about this on Saturday at the Farmer's Market. We were saying how my 2 year old and her 2 1/2 year old have never tried to climb out and we would keep them in their cribs until they were 5! I guess I spoke too soon!

The semi-funny part about it is he escaped from his crib, but chose to climb in his walker (that had been out for Isla's use) and he can't get out of his walker so he was stuck!

Photobucket

Lil' stinker...I really hope this was a one-time thing, but if it's not, I think a toddler bed is in our future.

Once Upon a Potty

Photobucket

So I have all these notes in my phone and times and specifics, but really, I'm not gonna bore you! I think Lane is on his way to being potty trained. Here's what we did.

The first few days, I sat him on the potty every 30-60-90 minutes. A little excessive? Yes! But whatev! I gave him lots of juice and fruit and his maximum amount of underwear changes in one day was only 3 pairs...I thought that was pretty good.

Then a few days after that, Matt informed me that we wanted him to be potty trained and not me, so I stopped sitting him and just took visual queues. And then I would ask him...like all the time...and remind him not to go in his undies. He always said "no" when asked. Some were more diligent than others and the not-so-diligent ones I took as "yes" and made him go.

He had 2 poop accidents in his undies. Both of which Matt cleaned up. One I blogged about here. And the other, well, I called my mom to tell her of our PT stories and I had her laughing so hard she was crying as she was relaying the stories to my Dad.

Sunday, I was upstairs getting some pics uploaded and Matt and Lane were chilling downstairs. Yes, it is hard for me to let go of control and put Matt on peep and poop patrol. But I did because "staring at your son's naked-from-the-waist-down body for days upon days gets really exhausting. So I relinquished and sat at the desk and tried to listen to what was going on!

I heard Lane yell "Poop!" and then I heard Matt taking him to the 'baf-room.' Apparently he peed in the toilet and all was good. Then the boys joined me upstairs and we were playing around for a bit. Matt went running downstairs for some reason and all I could here was 'Oh NO!' and then I could hear Matt hopping to the bathroom. When Lane and I went to check things out...we discovered that when Lane yelled "Poop" he actually went "Poop!" on the wood floor right by the stairs. It so conveniently blended right in with the color of our wood floors and Matt's foot found it....ICK!

Photobucket

But we've made progress since then. He has had ZERO accidents and last night, for the first time, yelled "Poop!" and then went to the toilet to poop. Yes! And before bath he said "baf-room" and went to the toilet to pee. Yes! He has been dry for the past couple days from nap and nighttime. Which I didn't expect at all! (I'm still putting him in a diaper for sleep) But he's definitely showing his bladder control. I'm hoping by the time we make the 12 hour trip to IL, next week, he will be good to go!

I bought this potty back in February and he's been sitting on it off and on, but never would go in it. He always wanted to go on the big potty. It was fine with me...it also doubles as a step stool that we use so he can reach the sink to wash his hands. And the top part comes off so you can set it on the big potty. So it really serves a lot of purposes. Yesterday I asked if he wanted to go on his little potty and he was like 'Shur' and he did. Of course, when the pee hits the toilet it plays a song and he loves it! So now he will go on it too. I think we will be bringing this with us on our car ride to IL.

Photobucket

So there's our progress. Not too bad, but I think it will take a little while longer until I feel really comfortable about it. For now, though, he is doing better than I ever expected!

"Really mom? I just woke up, I'm sitting on the toilet, you wanna take my picture and you want me to smile...here ya go!"

He's listening

No matter how much crap your husband gives you for buying "organic." Apparently something is working...

He ran out to run errands one Saturday morning and took Lane. I had been up a lot of the night so he wanted to let me sleep a little. They got dressed and headed out before 8 o'clock. I'm pretty sure a Dunkin' Donuts trip followed by a Target trip and then a run to Old Navy occurred. I was told he remembered we needed milk (that in and of itself is amazing!) and when I opened the fridge this is what I saw:

Photobucket

Good job honey! Skim and whole and organic...wow! No matter how much of a hard time you give me, I know how you really feel! Besides, Mr. turkey sandwich-with yogurt-Sun chips-an apple-carrot sticks-and a granola bar for lunch every.single.day. you cared about healthy eating loooong before I did! I only learned from the best. ;-)

Giggle Bugs

Photobucket

:gasp: I took out my camera today...I know! I was proud. We've just been crazy busy, but fortunately my super friend, Angela, not Angie, who is so much like me (I know!) threw out Giggle Bugs as a play date and I couldn't decline! So Lane and I headed out depsite my still obsessivenss over peep and poop. But Lane's been completely accident-free since Sunday so he's on a roll! He has a bladder of steel, or maybe not. Maybe he has a normal bladder and I am just comparing it to mine, which at the moment wants to empty every 30 minutes due to the fact I have a certain someone's head resting on it. Ahem, I digress...

Photobucket

Giggle Bugs was fun! It's a big ol' room with giant bounce houses in it! 4 dollars and 2 1/2 hours later I had one pooped out toddler who was falling asleep in his lunch. Success!

I have no pics of the other kids. It was hard enough keeping up and photographing 1! But they were there, I swear!

Photobucket

Lane was jumping in one of the houses for a while and then I couldn't see him. 5 minutes later he appeared at the top of the slide.
Photobucket

He is so TOTALLY cautious. It took him 15 minutes to actually go IN to one of the bounce houses after we first got there. All of the other kids were racing up to climb to the top...not Lane Diddy...he took his time!

He did a switch to his belly...probably felt safer. :-)

Weekend with the Matheys

Ahhh! What can I say, except it was time well spent, we stayed up waaay to late (2am) because we couldn't stop talking (it was Christmas since we'd seen them last) and decided that next time we will go to bed earlier because there won't be all that time in-between visits...much less catching up to do.

Did you ever think that these high school BFF's would be sitting downtown Greenville one day holding their children...they look pretty happy, right?!
Photobucket

Lane LOVED Isla and she LOVED him and it was neat to see his role as the older kid.
Photobucket

He's usually the younger one and he was sooooo good with her.
Photobucket

The consensus was he will be a great big brother! He knew how to make her laugh and she played right into it!
Photobucket

Photobucket

Jackie and I talked Canon, compared notes and decided a photography class is in order...now to find the time...
Photobucket

Lane is pretty much showing how we felt all weekend!
Photobucket

Some things never change...
Photobucket
As soon as we got home for the evening, the guys decided they should go pick up the pizza that we hadn't even ordered yet. I think they were anxious to sit at a bar sans sippy cups, Baby Bjorns, diaper bags...you get the idea! So they peaced out, but Jackie and I hardly missed their absence because we were content to watch our babies play!

Downtown for Starbucks in the morning where we spent another 3 hours catching up. We passed around Isla and took turns following Lane around. Such a good time!
Photobucket

And when we said goodbye, it wasn't so sad because we know there will be a next time and it will be soon!
