So I have all these notes in my phone and times and specifics, but really, I'm not gonna bore you! I think Lane is on his way to being potty trained. Here's what we did.
The first few days, I sat him on the potty every 30-60-90 minutes. A little excessive? Yes! But whatev! I gave him lots of juice and fruit and his maximum amount of underwear changes in one day was only 3 pairs...I thought that was pretty good.
Then a few days after that, Matt informed me that we wanted him to be potty trained and not me, so I stopped sitting him and just took visual queues. And then I would ask him...like all the time...and remind him not to go in his undies. He always said "no" when asked. Some were more diligent than others and the not-so-diligent ones I took as "yes" and made him go.
He had 2 poop accidents in his undies. Both of which Matt cleaned up. One I blogged about here. And the other, well, I called my mom to tell her of our PT stories and I had her laughing so hard she was crying as she was relaying the stories to my Dad.
Sunday, I was upstairs getting some pics uploaded and Matt and Lane were chilling downstairs. Yes, it is hard for me to let go of control and put Matt on peep and poop patrol. But I did because "staring at your son's naked-from-the-waist-down body for days upon days gets really exhausting. So I relinquished and sat at the desk and tried to listen to what was going on!
I heard Lane yell "Poop!" and then I heard Matt taking him to the 'baf-room.' Apparently he peed in the toilet and all was good. Then the boys joined me upstairs and we were playing around for a bit. Matt went running downstairs for some reason and all I could here was 'Oh NO!' and then I could hear Matt hopping to the bathroom. When Lane and I went to check things out...we discovered that when Lane yelled "Poop" he actually went "Poop!" on the wood floor right by the stairs. It so conveniently blended right in with the color of our wood floors and Matt's foot found it....ICK!

But we've made progress since then. He has had ZERO accidents and last night, for the first time, yelled "Poop!" and then went to the toilet to poop. Yes! And before bath he said "baf-room" and went to the toilet to pee. Yes! He has been dry for the past couple days from nap and nighttime. Which I didn't expect at all! (I'm still putting him in a diaper for sleep) But he's definitely showing his bladder control. I'm hoping by the time we make the 12 hour trip to IL, next week, he will be good to go!
I bought this
potty back in February and he's been sitting on it off and on, but never would go in it. He always wanted to go on the big potty. It was fine with me...it also doubles as a step stool that we use so he can reach the sink to wash his hands. And the top part comes off so you can set it on the big potty. So it really serves a lot of purposes. Yesterday I asked if he wanted to go on his little potty and he was like 'Shur' and he did. Of course, when the pee hits the toilet it plays a song and he loves it! So now he will go on it too. I think we will be bringing this with us on our car ride to IL.

So there's our progress. Not too bad, but I think it will take a little while longer until I feel really comfortable about it. For now, though, he is doing better than I ever expected!
"Really mom? I just woke up, I'm sitting on the toilet, you wanna take my picture and you want me to smile...here ya go!"
