Funny Photo Shoots

It's ALMOST impossible to get a baby, dog and Daddy to look at the camera and smile simultaneously!

Take 1-Harley can't resist a kiss.

Take 2- Lane apparently is the only one listening to the photographer.

Take 3- Harley is clearly getting bored with this....

Take 4- SUCCESS! My boys!

I was changing Lane in his crib and had to run to grab the Desitin...I came back to this and decided to turn it into a photo shoot! He's going to kill me in 15 years for this!

My weird dog

You can mostly find him doing this.
He's a German Shepherd....well he's not full bred, but he looks an awful lot like one so that's what we call him. We rescued him from a shelter in Lacon, IL back in 2006. He really is the BEST dog, but unfortunately has some, I will call them, awkward qualities. Sorry this post is all about my dog. If you're not into dogs exit now!

Harley is a gentle giant and he has a giant head and neck. Sometimes we laugh because he will rest his head on your knee or the arm of a chair and we say it's because his head is too heavy. Everyone that sees him thinks he is a puppy, which I love, because he really does have the cute face of a puppy, but he's almost 4 and fully grown, so he's NOT a puppy. Sometimes Matt doesn't like to explain that he has big paws and and a big head and will never grow into them because well, he's fully grown. So he tells passerby's who say "Look a puppy!" yep he's 8 months, still a puppy. It sometimes changes with each inquiring mind....yep he's 6 months, yep he's 10 months. Just to dodge the hassle of the German Shepherd mix, not sure what he's mixed with, fully grown, rescued, blah blah blah conversation.

Harley is not really into Lane. He would never hurt a person-child or adult-but he likes Lane at a comfortable distance. He actually is a little timid of Lane???? He gets up and runs if Lane comes close to him. Haven't quite figured that one out yet! He's very good with the neighborhood children even when they tug his ears, pull his tail, or poke his nose. He just lays there and looks at you with his puppy dog eyes.

So back to my awkward Harley post...the reason I am writing this. He is DEATHLY afraid of fireworks and when he hears them or thinks he hears them, he shakes and runs under a table, chair, behind a couch, anything he can hide behind, he will. Most recently the sound of construction sets him off and sadly it has happened during a walk or two. We were downtown on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we walked down there....about a 20 minute walk from our house. Well, Harley heard construction and planted his butt and DID NOT want to move.

As we slowly made progress toward the general direction of our house we passed by some outdoor seating at a restaurant and Harley decided he wanted to hide under the table. The poor people trying to have a nice lunch with a 60lb. hairy beast at their feet. When we lured him out of that, he lunged under a bench and decided that's where he wanted to be.

Eventually, we found a table near the fountain, where Harley could hide and we could eat lunch.
We love our dog and all his awkward qualities. And he definitely gives us a laugh or two every now and again!

And for those of you not so into Harley....uh uhm...mom and Lacey...here is a picture of the real reason you are checking this blog....

Ok, ok, I know you love Harley, but his true fans are definitely Loretta and my Dad.
