Not ME Monday

Quick Announcement: My very best friend in the whole wide world had her baby last week! She was in my wedding and we've been friends since Kindergarten! Everyone is doing fine. I am so excited for her as I know she will be a terrific mommy and I can't wait to meet baby Jackson! Congrats Cait!

This idea is from a Blog that I just found. No idea who she is...or how I came upon it, but she has a wonderful story and I like her writing. She also has a son who was diagnosed with heart failure in the womb and they were told he would not survive upon birth and well, they were wrong...he is a thriving 8 month old (i think) and although still on medication for his heart, seems to be doing really well!

"Are you feeling guilty for not changing your children's bedsheets for weeks on end? Feel trashy taking your trash to the curb with no bra on? Overcome with embarrassment after your child wets his pants in public? We'll don't be! Not Me! Monday was born out of my desire to admit some of my imperfections and reveal a few moments I'd rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to join in and do the same thing!"

I did not spend the first 3 days of the week couped up in the house with a sick baby except for very few errands mid-week and felt totally blah about not getting out. I also did not force Matt to take a ride past 3 houses that are for sale in a neighborhood I really really like that is out-of-our-price range..in a normal market...but not this market! I also did not try to convince him that buying a fixer-upper was the way to go and that I was up for the challenge! He did not look at me like I was crazy.

I did not bake a rocky road chocolate cake in the dark, well except for the microwave light and a flashlight, while Matt put up new lights in the kitchen (hence the dark...he had to shut-off the power). It also was not 9:30 and I certainly did not have a piece when it was finished an hour later! I did not have to order another light because 2 just wasn't enough...even though I thought 3 was the way to go all along. ;-) And Matt did not finish his lighting project at 1:30 am. (Yikes! He's crazy!) I also did NOT finish the said rocky road chocolate cake in the span of 5 days by myself...Not Me! (Um, yeah, that's a little gross!)
It wasn't me who took Lane on a run on Friday because I did not get a chance to work out all week and really needed to do something considering I polished off a 9X12 pan of rocky road chocolate cake. It was not me who foolishly thought all the people on Main St. were looking at Lane and thinking he was cute (even though their expressions didn't read 'cute') and then continue on until almost home only to stop at a light and peek around to see what they were looking at. And it was not me who found a very snotty-nosed/cheeked/lipped baby smiling up at me. He looked something like this:

minus the frozen part oh and the goggles, hat, and hair!

It was not me who didn't prepare to wipe a nose on our run, even though my child was sick (sometimes I just don't think, do I!?), so instead used my hand and shirt. Sorry Lane! Maybe I'll be more prepared when the 2nd one comes! Remember, the first child is the trial ;-)

It was not me who went to Kohl's on a Friday night by myself because I really wanted to get out and clearly shopping at Kohl's by yourself on a Friday night is WAY cooler than staying at home!

Anyone care to tell us what you "didn't" do last week?!?

Not ME Monday

This idea is from a Blog that I just found. No idea who she is...or how I came upon it, but she has a wonderful story and I like her writing. She also has a son who was diagnosed with heart failure in the womb and they were told he would not survive upon birth and well, they were wrong...he is a thriving 8 month old (i think) and although still on medication for his heart, seems to be doing really well!
I bring you, for the first time, not me monday...

I did not bring Lane to the gym in his pajamas that happened to look like a little one piece outfit even though he slept in them the night before and that also said "King Crabby." And luckily, if I did put him in that silly outfit in public, no one noticed because he IS a really really happy and sweet baby (oh and cute, really cute!) who smiles at everyone we pass. (and that last part is the TRUTH!)

I also did not 'forget' to change his diaper before our lunch date with Matt because the diaper felt perfectly dry before we left, but upon arriving to the restaurant, it indeed was very wet, so wet it soaked through his pants. And if that did happen, Matt certainly wasn't the one to pick him up and discover that.... Oops! After a quick diaper change, we did not continue on with our lunch date claiming that he "probably can't feel it anyway because he's wearing a diaper." No certainly NOT US!
I of course did not park in the middle of Total Wine and PetSmart at The Shops at Greenridge Plaza so I would only have to take Lane out of his car seat once and only park the car once. And PetSmart and Total Wine are really close to each other...um...like 1/2 mile close...but let's face it...going through the in-the-car-seat-out-of-the-car-seat-in-the-cart-out-of-the-cart business is much harder than plopping him in the stroller and walking to each place. Because, really, who doesn't love a good brisk walk in 90 degree weather and 99% humidity, even though you already worked out that morning, showered, got dressed (semi-cute too) and put make-up on?!?!?

I also did not choose to go to Total Wine (for beer) and PetSmart (for Harley's heart worm and flea and tick medicine) instead of grocery shopping because more than two stops is just too exhausting with a baby in tow. I certainly would not buy beer over food just so we had 'good' beer to drink while we brewed our own at home!

On Wednesday, I did not run 4 miles and then do squats and then go home to shower, but not wash my hair (sweat-soaked hair, I might add) because I didn't have time, and instead blow dry the sweat out of my hair...not I!
On Saturday, we did not take Lane to the pool that lasted far into his afternoon nap-time and then proceed to put him down when we got home. It certainly wasn't 4:30 and we never would let him sleep until 7:30 wondering if he was EVER going to wake-up. And then I did not proceed to wake him to feed him dinner and give him a bath only to put him back down at 9. And Lane certainly did not sleep until 7 the next morning when we, yet again, had to wake him to get him ready for church. (Geez, Lane, sleep much!?!)
I also, this weekend, did not spend 3 hours at the spa and then 2 hours the next day at the pool by myself with only a book, some sunscreen, and a bottled water...which means no baby to chase up the stairs or snatch away from Harley's water bowl. And I certainly DID not thoroughly enjoy the me-time!!!
What did you "Not-do" last week!?!
