Not ME Monday
This idea is from a Blog that I just found. No idea who she is...or how I came upon it, but she has a wonderful story and I like her writing. She also has a son who was diagnosed with heart failure in the womb and they were told he would not survive upon birth and well, they were wrong...he is a thriving 8 month old (i think) and although still on medication for his heart, seems to be doing really well!
"Are you feeling guilty for not changing your children's bedsheets for weeks on end? Feel trashy taking your trash to the curb with no bra on? Overcome with embarrassment after your child wets his pants in public? We'll don't be! Not Me! Monday was born out of my desire to admit some of my imperfections and reveal a few moments I'd rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to join in and do the same thing!"
I did not spend the first 3 days of the week couped up in the house with a sick baby except for very few errands mid-week and felt totally blah about not getting out. I also did not force Matt to take a ride past 3 houses that are for sale in a neighborhood I really really like that is out-of-our-price range..in a normal market...but not this market! I also did not try to convince him that buying a fixer-upper was the way to go and that I was up for the challenge! He did not look at me like I was crazy.
I did not bake a rocky road chocolate cake in the dark, well except for the microwave light and a flashlight, while Matt put up new lights in the kitchen (hence the dark...he had to shut-off the power). It also was not 9:30 and I certainly did not have a piece when it was finished an hour later! I did not have to order another light because 2 just wasn't enough...even though I thought 3 was the way to go all along. ;-) And Matt did not finish his lighting project at 1:30 am. (Yikes! He's crazy!) I also did NOT finish the said rocky road chocolate cake in the span of 5 days by myself...Not Me! (Um, yeah, that's a little gross!)
It wasn't me who took Lane on a run on Friday because I did not get a chance to work out all week and really needed to do something considering I polished off a 9X12 pan of rocky road chocolate cake. It was not me who foolishly thought all the people on Main St. were looking at Lane and thinking he was cute (even though their expressions didn't read 'cute') and then continue on until almost home only to stop at a light and peek around to see what they were looking at. And it was not me who found a very snotty-nosed/cheeked/lipped baby smiling up at me. He looked something like this:
minus the frozen part oh and the goggles, hat, and hair!
It was not me who didn't prepare to wipe a nose on our run, even though my child was sick (sometimes I just don't think, do I!?), so instead used my hand and shirt. Sorry Lane! Maybe I'll be more prepared when the 2nd one comes! Remember, the first child is the trial ;-)
It was not me who went to Kohl's on a Friday night by myself because I really wanted to get out and clearly shopping at Kohl's by yourself on a Friday night is WAY cooler than staying at home!
Anyone care to tell us what you "didn't" do last week?!?
