A Brighter Day

So the sun came out just in time for my Mom, Dad and Luke to leave. Oh well! Maybe next time. I guess they were paying for the 70* weather we had when they visited in February! Even though they didn't enjoy any sunshine.....we did take the lil' fish swimming and here are some pictures.....

Dear Pottery Barn,

Thank you for your excellent customer service. You responded to my request and it came in the form of a 2.5 hour morning nap and 3.5 hour afternoon nap, in which "it" awoke very happy and in between those glorious naps some playtime (self-occupied, I might add), laughs, smiles, and giggles, and a couple of errands where charming and flirting took place. MUCH better than the clingy, whiny, grumpy one we received yesterday. I always new there was a reason I keep coming back again and again. Thanks!

And I leave you with a video of Lane. Matt set him in his tub while getting his bath ready and Mr. Independent decided he wanted to pull himself up. *And please note his hand against the wall....this is his signature move in which he does to EVERYTHING he touches! Quite funny!*

Keep or Return?

So, we LOOOOVVVVE Pottery Barn. I LOOOVVVE the outlet even more, but its 40 minutes away so we only get there once every couple of months! I must admit the minute we get the newest catalog in the mail, we sit down and start ripping out pages of rooms we like and tabbing pages with furniture to order. And once we start ordering it seems to go on for weeks. Pretty sure the UPS guy is not too fond of 708 Bennett St. Also pretty sure he could get to our house by memory! Kinda hit a bit of a dry spell lately in the ordering department. I haven't ordered from the Spring catalog...yet something came in the mail...I asked Matt and he said he didn't do it. Which is weird because they are usually mistake-free. I wonder if they'll take it back????

I do admit it's pretty cute, but lately its whiny and growing teeth like some kind of monster. It also fights naps and wants to be held all the time. I used to have one of these, but it was sweet and smiley and not sprouting as many teeth as a fine-tooth comb. It also played very nicely on its own. I wonder if they'll let me get my old one back?????

Mr. Golden Sun Please Shine Down on Me!

My parents and Luke have been in town since the beginning of the week. Unfortunately they have yet to see the sun....its been raining for 3 days straight. Despite the yucky weather, we've still managed to have a good time. Although I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been too upset if the sun came out and they were able to catch some rays....especially Luke! We've gone out to eat, shopped and hung around the house playing with Lane. My Mom and I took Lane to Bouncing Babies at the library and had so much fun! We danced and sang songs and listened to stories. Today we went to the gym, the grown-ups worked out and Lane played in the baby room and then we took him swimming. He loved it! Here are some pictures so far and I'll post some more later this weekend.

Fun with Uncle Luke!

1st Family Vacation

He's got to be the most well-traveled baby....and fitting since Matt and I are ALWAYS on the move. In the past month he's been to IL two times (drove three ways and flew one way) and Myrtle Beach.

Our get-away this past weekend was a blast. We enjoyed sunny skies and 60 degree temps. We walked on the beach, ate, shopped, ate, went to a HUGE car show, did I mention we ate, good thing we walked a lot! We had fun and Lane enjoyed it!

Waiting for Daddy to drop Harley off at the PetHotel.

Margaritaville

He loved the ocean!

Muscle man!
Out to dinner.

Lane and his Papa

Please don't take offense to this....I mean, I am the one that birthed the child and yet still I must admit that my Dad is Lane's absolute favorite.....the rest of us jump, dance, yell, make funny faces, make funny noises, practically stand on our head to get a smile out of the little guy and Papa so much as walks in the room and Lane's face lights up with a big ol' smile. I mean, it's ridiculous really, Lane watches him and even when my Dad is not looking at him, Lane is still fascinated and smiling at him. I caught them in action over the weekend. Warning: It. will. melt. your. heart.

I am THAT Mom...

Lane still uses his car seat carrier, but its become far too heavy for me to carry around. So these days, we leave it in the car and just take him in and out of it! Up until recently, (uh um..last week) I still would place his car seat in the cart, whether it be at the grocery store or Target. I just couldn't bring myself to placing him in the cart until......
Yes, I am that Mom who puts a big protector over the cart before placing her precious cargo (aka Lane) inside. I'm surprised I don't have pictures to show you, but I don't. But let me help you....just picture a big blue tarp covering the seat where Lane sits and you pretty much have a visual. (Don't be silly, it's not plastic, it's cloth!) Looks exactly like this!

(P.S. I still will probably place the car seat in the cart at times, just to convince myself he's not growing sooo fast and can still use the carrier for 10 more lbs. and/or 5 more inches.)

I used to see Mom's walking through the stores with these and just cringe. But now, being a mom, I understand that there are sooooo many germs.....especially on a shopping cart......we have to do our best to protect our babies. And since it would be really weird to place him in a big, plastic, bubble, (I have thought about it at times!) I just use my cart protector and go on my merry way. At least I don't wear the "mom" jeans while pushing him around.....but half the time I am in workout clothes so I'm not sure what's worse!

The Good: Lane is the BEST swim suit critic! He just sits and smiles at every one I try on, convincing me each one is better than the previous. I happened to pick the two he smiled the biggest at.....

The Bad: I have a very limited amount of time (which could be good in a way)....so try on quickly and definitely don't think about going back in for seconds....Nevermind....it's bad because hence the no "seconds" I am forced to buy 2 of every piece when I am not sure if a small looks better or a medium. So therefore, buy a small and medium, take them home, try them on for Matt, take one of them back to Target the following day.....and everyone knows you can't walk into Target just to return something...oh no it turns into another shopping trip....this time with shoes....and 2 pairs...not for me of course.....for Lane!

The Ugly: I made a pan of brownies and they are well on there way to being GONE! Someone pleeease stop me!
