Playtime

I've been meaning to put these up. I don't have a whole lot of time to sit down these days. I have a toddler (is he considered a toddler, yet?) who toddles around at every waking moment! I've baby-proofed the wall outlets (a few months ago, when he started moving around), but that's about it. I was kind of putting off the rest of it until necessary...ummm it's necessary!

I'm not going to do baby gates...I am going to a)try to teach him how to do stairs or b)teach him to stay away from stairs. (we'll see how that goes) I have already started teaching him to turn around on his belly (feet first) when he is upstairs and crawls toward them and he has started doing that....but I'm not sure he gets the whole concept!

And now it's finally time to latch up the cabinet doors and drawers in the kitchen and bathrooms. It started with his curiosity with under the sink and that's just NOT safe. I will be making my 3rd trip to Lowe's in 3 days! (I swear, it's like Target, you never leave without spending under $100) I found some door latches that are incognito and won't be obvious when we go to sell.

Yeah remember that whole 'teaching him the stairs' concept...we're not quite there yet!

He's a pro, granny Kik's...he loves spinning the wheel! Price Is Right training?

This one makes me laugh!

Another Summer Day

at the pool. Lane REALLY likes the Splash Pad now. We head over there after spending some time wading in the pool. He crawls all over the place. This is a time where I wish he could walk. His swim trunks cover his knees good enough, but ouch on the toes. He got smart and started crawling with his toes in the air. Ha! Maybe a pair of water shoes will do the trick!

This is what it looked like outside literally less than a minute after we got home. NO idea where it came from! Only lasted an hour or so.
This is what Lane looked like less than a minute (okay, maybe 5) after we got home.

This is what we did while Lane slept. ;-)

And now I am off to finish getting ready...I have a date with 2 handsome boys!

More hair, less teeth

Sorry about that last post...if you know our relationship, you know it was done with utmost respect and really just to make each other laugh.....because who can't laugh at someone signing their name b-o-x?

So anyway...

We've been a poolin' the past few days. It has been super nice out. Really hot, but not too humid which is sooo awesome! Just Lane and I have been going and today we invited Heather and Beckett, who I mentioned earlier this week. Remember....he was the one with LESS hair than Lane.
PROOF:
"Dude I really do have more hair than you!"

"Dude you really do have more hair than me"

We had a blast. The 2 boys splashing and playing back and forth in the pool. We'll be sure to get together again.

Mom, granny, grammy, kiki, comcast lady

whichever you prefer to be called.....(if your name isn't all of these, you need not read on...)

why did you sign your comment 'box?' is it because you are so used to typing box at work? did you mean to type 'mom?' because when i try to figure the logistics, of what you were trying to spell....nothing logical comes to mind...b-o-x...could be v-i-c...n-p-z...but none of those make sense??? here is a lesson on leaving a comment:

1. sign-in to your profile you created to become a 'follower' aka 'my peeps'
2. your name should already be in there so you won't have to put anything in there.
3. write in the comment box.
4. hit publish your comment!

that way you won't put your name as 'again'...still trying to figure out your thought process???

and if this wasn't you...which I am 100% sure it was, you just got a 'publishing comment' lesson! yourrr welcome...

Wordless Wednesday....er...sorta?

Ok, let's all admit, there's never really a time when I am wordless....but it's short at least?!?!

Dear Lane,
I take you to the pool, slave for days to make you food, change countless diapers, buy you toys at our trips to Target, dress you in the cutest clothes, sing to you, dance with you, love on you ALL DAY...you used my body for 9 months to grow big and strong, I birthed you for crying out loud and THIS is what I get?!?!

See video:

Ok, I guess you ARE with me all day every day and we CAN grow tired of each other. But please don't do this in front of Daddy anymore!
Love,
Mommy

FOOD

It's what I've been thinking about these past 3 days. Since Sunday I have been cooking, mashing, baking, mixing, researching, and really just having fun experimenting! I was really in a food rut lately...namely a Lane food rut. And plus, I bought jars to bring home and ended up throwing a good portion of them away. He shuns the jarred food....don't get me wrong....he LOVED the fruits and ate them all up, but any veggie, pasta, chicken, rice combo, he didn't really want any part of. Which I don't blame him....they are so bland!

Anyway, we've met some friends a.k.a. Lane's twin separated at birth. They are 3 days apart, blond and bald as can be (if you can believe it, Lane has MORE hair than his friend, is this possible?) Anyway, she makes her own baby food too and we got to talking Friday night at Main St. Jazz and she re-inspired me! Oh and by the way...we have a play date with them so I will be sure to get a picture of these guys! And proof that Lane has more hair than someone!

So anyway, Lane is becoming a little picky. He has a texture thing. And if it's something not recognizable he will barely get it in his mouth before he wants to spit it out. So I have to be creative these days. For instance I threw some green beans and broccoli in a banana, blueberry, kiwi puree. He ate it up for breakfast the other day. SUCCESS!

I also made my version of baby lasagna (minus tomato sauce, but still yummy!)using a muffin pan. That way the portions are already just his size. I made a spinach souffle (that I would make for Matt and I as a side for dinner it was so good) using the muffin pan. He turned his nose up at it the first time, but he gobbled some for lunch today. SUCCESS #2!

And I am still working on how to get him to eat the chicken and peach with rice dish. I did puree it, but he's still not digging it. I'm thinking some sweet potatoes or squash will get his approval. Because last night Matt gave him the Chicken broccoli pasta dish and with a bar of sweet potatoes he devoured it! So that's what's been going on in our world these days.

I also made some hummus for him that I spread on a bagel or english muffin. He likes! I made a roasted red pepper hummus for us and I've been eating that for lunch (the past 3 days) on a whole wheat pita with some provolone, sliced tomatoes and spinach. Can you say YUMMMY! I think that's all for now. If you want any of the recipes, let me know. I don't really feel like typing them unless someone is interested...just e-mail or comment!

And for all my loyal readers....ahem...all 11 of you...you probably signed on to see Mr. Lane and not read about our diets. But too bad because in 3 years when I want to know what we ate for lunch on June 23rd 2009...I have proof! After all, that's what this blog is for, oh and um it's also for the grandmas, grandpas, aunts, and uncles to see their favorite little buddy!

I leave you with something that he DOES APPROVE of going in his mouth as long as Papa feeds it to him:

Mott's frozen juice....compliments of Aunt Maria!

This is what happens when

I leave Lane with Uncle Luke and the camera:

He's dressed in camo with a head band on.

He tries to give him 'Luke' size bites of cereal.

And......'it's a bird, it's a plane....No it's flying Lane!'

Not sure he can change a diaper....but he can entertain the child with the best of 'em!

We're Home!

And excited to be back with Matt and Harley and.....the sun! We missed the other half of our family and are so happy to be reunited again! Our second flight went great! I was so relaxed, I took a few pictures and even a movie.

This is how happy Lane was to have his own seat.

The flight was empty due to 21 mis-connects (good for us, not so good for the travelers) and we were supposed to share a seat, but instead, sprawled out across 2 seats! It was great! We took off on time and arrived early in Charlotte. Amazing!

Buckled in his seat belt.

Some things that kept him occupied: books, "snack-trap," and his cell phone.

And of course...staring at all the people sitting behind us in the plane.

And yes, I have some more unpacking to do, laundry, and general organizing, but I'm choosing to blog instead! (Props to Matt for a very clean house!) Lane is napping (he's on a weird sleep schedule since being in IL, I will be working on getting him back on our SC schedule shortly that is conducive to errand running and pool-going and we are definitely getting him out of his 3-nap Peru habit and back on to 2-naps and an early bedtime...that way mommy and daddy have their time in the evening!)

Updates from home

The weekend was nice....very busy, but fun. It's super nice having built-in babysitters. :-) Lane is having a GREAT time with his family. He barely knows I'm here, except when he's looking for milk. Daddy's gone and Lane has been 'da-da'-ing for the past day....weird coincidence?! It seems in the past 4 days we've been here he is learning and growing so much. I guess it's all the EXTRA stimulation. Granny taught him how to patty-cake, he still does 'SOOO BIG' on command, when you say kisses he blows them and he's always giving them to his Papa, he still waves at everyone, he's actually signing 'milk' (at the right times) and he's starting to do 'more.' (I think it was the patty cake that helped with the 'more' sign!) Of course, he's in heaven with a new place to explore...crawling around everywhere and cruising around the furniture.

Yesterday, I took a ride with Lace to Peoria. She had some appointments for work and while we waited for her to get done, I took Lane on a tour. We drove past our old place on Moss Ave. and our first house on Corrington. I miss that house so much! I loved it! When Lace was done we had lunch at Avanti's and then did some shopping. And of course we were in CATERPILLAR country so we did a tractor photo shoot with Lane! I think Daddy will love these pictures!
