Mother's Day

Yep! This sums it up. Homemade cards. Homemade gifts. Flowers. Rain. PJ's. Movies. Pizza.

Parker's Room transformation coming together.

No fancy brunch, no extravagant gifts, no spa treatments. Not perfect, but then again, how can you not call getting gifts like these from your first born NOT perfect. :-)

It was simple and ordinary and a day I wouldn't have asked to go any other way!

Tidbits

We have butterflies! All five of our caterpillars have hatched and we plan on letting them go today. I'll have to talk Lane into it, but it has to be done. :-)
Matt and I celebrated 6 years on Sunday with lunch at Luna Rosa and some drinks on the rooftop patio at Carolina Ale House. We also did a little shopping. Thanks to our fabulous babysitter for holding the fort down all day.
Love summer nights like these. After dinner Lane prompted us for a walk, which I thought was a great idea!

Look at this visitor we had the other week. Ick!

This hat was requested by Lane. He really wanted a helicopter hat like Pablo on the Backyardigans so Aunt Cece got him one. It's a hit in our house!

This showed up at my house last week! It's like Christmas. All of our PB stuff for Parker's room.

One of the best parts of last week was when Parker and I walked into the bank and payed off the Volvo! It's officially ours. In September we will have had it for 2 years. The plan is to have it for at least 3, hopefully more. So yay for no debt...granted we are about $11,000 poorer now, but it was a good move. It was our highest payment besides for out mortgage so there was a lot of interest on that payment. But no more! Woot!
Lane loves to.... vacuum. Who loves it more? Me or him?

Also loving the fact that he can get his own breakfast! As long as a box of waffles is open in the freezer, he goes in there and opens it up and pops it in the toaster.
Parker said her first 6 word sentence last week, "I had fun at Y, mom." Her language has taken off in the past 2 months. I believe it mostly has to do with the fact that she has a big brother and that she's a girl, but I'm proud of her.
Yay for May-our anniversary, Mother's Day, the start of summer and the best part is we will welcome some visitors in a few weeks!
I think that's all for now. Gotta go get ready for our airplane craft and park playdate. Happy Tuesday!

Lunch with the Ducks

Thursday we took a picnic to Falls Park and had lunch with the ducks.

After we got done eating there were 2 ducks sitting on rocks sleeping and Lane was trying to wake them up with some bread. It didn't work.

But soon enough these little guys came swimming over.

Lane has been finding caterpillars in our yard and making them his pets for the day. Taking them on walks, rides on his bike and even setting them on his picnic table when he's eating lunch. He would tell me he was waiting for them to turn into butterflies. He was so I interested in them, I decided to order some so we could watch their transformation. 5 lively caterpillars arrived in the mail and we watched them eat and eat and eat and they got huge. Pretty soon they crawled up to the top and formed their cocoons.
