First day of K3 Preschool

Photobucket

Piece a cake. A breeze. Momma felt like crying when she left her baby, but the baby? He's 3 and just like big and stuff so he walked in (a little shyly), but got right to business. And was all like bye mom. (yes, he's started calling me mom more) and that was it. So Park and I left and did our thing and wondered if Lane was thinking about us. :-) And when we walked in the door to pick him up...uh-um...10 minutes early. What?! We were in the "area." He didn't even look up from the book he was listening too. But he did smile when he saw us!

So those lines at the bottom are his "name." At least there are 4 of them! I asked him to write his name. Hope to do this every year so we can see how it changes!

And sometime this week, I'll post his dentist pictures. I know! Going to the dentist for the first time and starting K3 this week. Couple that with Parker drinking whole milk out of a sippy and telling us she's one. Whew! It's been a big one!

Friends at School

Lane and I were sitting at the table while he was eating lunch. I started asking him about school and some of his friends. I was really surprised he knew anyone's name. Today his teachers told me that he went potty with no help. That means he pulled down his pants and undies and plopped himself on the toilet??? I had no idea!! I have yet to see him do this at home.

He gets the same report everyday...Happy, busy, dry. Every time I ask how his day was they tell me he was great. In fact, he's never had to be disciplined. (Wish I could say the same for home!) They do timeouts there and he must get his fill at home! I am told he is very quiet at school. Which doesn't surprise me...Matt and I were both fairly quiet in school. He has some rowdy ones in his class and Lane just kind of looks at them when they are acting all crazy. It's funny!

I think he enjoys going, but I also think he is glad to see me when I pick him up!

First Day of "School"

Well, the first day of school was a success! Yes, there were some tears shed by both of us, but in the end, we both did fine! I wasn't as productive as I could have been. I think it was because I'm not used to having that time, but tomorrow I will have an agenda! In fact, I already have a meeting scheduled!

When we walked in, he walked right through the door and said hello to his teachers. But he didn't want me too far away. He watched some of the other boys playing, but didn't move too far. When he turned his back, I slowly left. I felt bad, but I didn't want to make a big good-bye production. As I made my way down the hall, I heard him start to cry.

I was told, he stopped crying almost immediately and when I went to pick him up, observed him playing. When I walked in, he came over to me and hugged my legs and then he was off again. I guess he likes it! He went potty twice and got a dinosaur sticker

and a smiley face stamp on his hand. He created a masterpiece with red finger paint

and somehow managed to keep his white polo shirt...well, white! His teachers are Miss Shannon and Miss Melissa. He has 6 kids in his class on Wednesdays and 14 on Thursdays. I'm glad the group was small today. It was an easy transition and not too overwhelming. Tomorrow will be a little different!

When I walked in his room this morning, fully expecting to have to wake him, I found this:

He was quietly reading his book.

I got him dressed and as I was getting myself ready, he came out of my bedroom with these items on:

Luckily, he didn't insist to wear my swimsuit bottoms (around his neck) and nursing bracelet to his first day of school. :-)

He had a waffle and milk for breakfast and then we were out the door.

I dressed him in some seersucker for his big day. A true Southern boy ;-)

I have butterflies...

it's like the first day of school. But it doesn't even happen until Wednesday. Yes, in 3 days, my little guy starts "school." I'm sure the anticipation of it all is really worse than the actual event. But it's still there and it's still real and I'm still nervous. Think of me Wednesday morning at 9 am. I will be dropping off Lane at school and leaving him for 3 hours. (After I drop him off, I am attending a play date...without my kid...but going in hope for some support) I am sad. I want to cry. Yet I know it's going to be good for us all. I'll report back after the first day, with hopefully, some really great stuff! Until then, I'll just anticipate for it to happen and hope it doesn't kill me before then.
