Grandma and Grandpa!

Loretta comes in May, usually around Artisphere, a fun festival we attend every year. You can see previous ones here and here.

This year she brought Ed along to enjoy too.

Lane is now old enough to attend KidSphere. Super cute!

And tiring!

We also went downtown for Friday night Jazz, Matt and I went out for our anniversary and we all attended a Drive game on Sunday afternoon, perfect weather! Love it!

My ~~laundry is caught up~~ or should I say was caught up until Loretta left, my kid's faces were clean, their shirts tucked in and I even got clean sheets and a made bed. Can't say I remember the last time that happened when they weren't a wrinkled mess!

Besides for the fact that I get an extra set of hands here to help around the house, we enjoy the company and are waiting for them to come back!!!

I have 742 emails in my Inbox-unread, Parker turns 8 months, Lane finished school, we have 3 addresses, Grandma and Grandpa come to visit and other very crazy, very fun, very busy things happening with the McConvilles!

Hi! It's been a while! But for good reason!

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit last week. Of course it was fun, of course it was short, of course we hated to say goodbye.

We closed on our house on Friday the 13th. We officially have the keys and demo starts in a few weeks. We also picked up our keys to our temporary apartment today. That makes 3 addresses, 3 water bills, 3 power bills, 6 bathrooms, 3400 sq. ft., 8 bedrooms, 3 kitchens, 2 washers, 3 dryers (how did that happen??) 2 cars (we sold one!) 1 pool (which is almost the only thing I care about at this moment) a gazillion boxes and a partridge in a pear tree!

Don't worry, those numbers will soon be cut in half. We are canceling all services at our current home, the only home my children have ever lived in, the place we lived at the longest as a married couple, the beginning of our journey to living in this new state, our stability and comfort for the past 5 years, and passing it along to a new family who can't wait to live here, who we talk to almost daily and who will be renting from us for at least a year, if not more and then possibly purchasing. Yep, time to close the doors on this portion of our life and start anew!

The excitement surrounding it all is almost unbearable! But first, we must move and that I am not so much looking forward to. But our bags are packed and the movers come Wednesday and then we will say goodbye forever (or at least until we can't make the mortgage payments at our new place and have to move back) KIDDING!!!

The kids are almost oblivious to the big changes ahead. Besides for the boxes and junk all over our house. But even that doesn't seem to bother them. I am still going on play dates and keeping an active schedule, as to try not to disrupt normal life for them.

Lane finished his first year of school!

The 2 year old class made tie-dyed shirts last week and all wore them on the last day. How cute!
We attended a picnic with the whole school...Matt couldn't make it because he was busy at work, but Parker and I did and this is one of the reasons I stay at home....to have the flexibility to do this stuff!

Since I've been MIA...We had a picnic with Matt on his lunch break,

went to the Duck Derby

(If you can't tell, there are 1000's of yellow rubber ducks racing down the falls. It's a charity event that coincides with the Kentucky Derby!)

Barney's Birthday Bash,

and got a much needed hair cut!

I'm not going to try to cram anymore into this post, but I thought I better make time for an update because I got a comment from a person who shall remain nameless...cough...Nene...cough saying "one week."

Yeah, yeah, point taken.

It's what Grandmas are for...

So apparently if you're a Grandma...particularly Lane and Parker's Grandma...you get tied up and shackled in the kitchen

and we leave just enough space for you to reach the laundry room so you can, of course, tend to the laundry while you are cooking, baking and cleaning up. And sometimes if you're real lucky, we loosen the shackles up even more and let you bounce a baby, bathe a toddler, hem a pair of jeans possibly on the patio, but no further, and even read "Brown Bear Brown Bear" no less than 62 times. And while you're at it, why don't you do some grocery shopping, crochet a blanket for the newest edition,

dish out hugs to an emotional momma and maybe at the end of the day, we'll allow you a beer or 2 for your service. :-)

And would you believe folks she DIDN'T want to leave and even more shocking is...she's talking about her next trip back. :-)

Happy Easter!

Lane woke up to hidden eggs...well as much as you can hide them from a 1 year old...a basket

and a really cool water table that Matt picked out.

We went out on date night on Saturday because you know, we had free babysitters. Date night included a stop at Toys R' Us before dinner...how romantic! Hah! But actually we had a lot of fun picking stuff out. hehe

On Sunday when Lane woke up, we got him breakfast and then got him ready for church and he didn't seem too interested in the hidden eggs yet. We picked through his basket to find "church-friendly" toys and off we went.

After church we stopped at Falls Park for some pictures. It's become our Easter tradition. Here's last years. Remember...we're making family memories darn-it! ;-)

And of course, we let Grandma try her hand at some photography and took advantage of some more family pics.

Then we went back home where Lane got really into finding his eggs...once Daddy showed him the goods inside, that is. I put a fruit snack in each one figuring he would want to find more and he did! After seeing the fruit snack surprise he started scouring the house for more eggs. When he found one he did a little dance in circles shaking his egg. He had a little bit of a hard time opening them and getting out the fruit snack so he would ask for help. But when someone wasn't within reach he just took to throwing them on the ground and they opened up themselves! After he found all of the eggs he would pick one up and shake it just to be sure he got out all the fruit snacks that were hidden inside each one.

I prepared Easter breakfast, (with my bloody mary sans vodka that Matt made me)

Lane played with his basket while Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed watching, and Daddy snapped some pictures!

We spent the day outside putting together and playing with his new water table. But he was just as content to play with it without any water.

It felt like summer so we broke out a summer staple...

After a long nap for Grandpa and Lane, we headed out for a walk on the trails downtown and then for some Sunday Funday drinks and appetizers. We ended the night with a cookout and talked about what a nice visit we had! Thanks for spending Easter with us Grandma and Grandpa, it really meant a lot!

Grandma and Grandpa Day 2!

Then we got down to Easter business and started coloring some eggs! Even though Grandpa and Daddy were watching the game...I pleaded that we have DVR and to pause it because we are "making family memories." After all what's technology for?! They came around quickly (after my stern, but loving push) and joined us outside!
