Confessions on a Monday

1. I did not make it to the gym one time last week. And so continues my 3 week hiatus. Hopefully, when I can get back, I will still feel like going! But do to our "social calendar" (see below) the gym has been taking 2nd priority. Let's hope walking and yoga will do the trick for keeping this pregnant girl "in shape!"

2. Our "social calendar" consists of play dates and gatherings anywhere between the hours of 8:30 am and 1 pm. Cause lets face it...anyone we are hanging out with might melt when the clock strikes 1pm and they aren't getting prepped for their afternoon nap.

Confessions on a Monday

1.  2 weeks ago Matt asked me to sew a button that had fallen off a pair of his work pants. Sure! I was more than happy to do it. But then I got to thinking...do I even own a needle and thread? On Friday, after 2 weeks of staring at the pants, I set out, determined to find a needle and thread in our linen closet. Do you know what type of needle and thread I own? One from a hotel....you know those courtesy packs they supply you with that already have the needle threaded with a little bit of thread. So yeah, the button got sewn on, but the thread choice was either red or white. I chose white hoping it wouldn't make that much of a statement. All I can say is he has a functioning button and can now where the pants again!

2. Cookies! Why do I make them? I only continue to eat 5...before lunch and who knows how many after...day after day until the bag is gone and I mourn the loss of the cookies...and then the viscious cycle starts all over again.

Confessions on a Monday

I missed last week, but I'm back. Join me if you want and link your blog below so we can all read!

1. Ya'll! Look. at. his. toe.

Photobucket

I know. I feel terrible. It has been 3 weeks. THREE. And the darn thing still looks like this. I put some things on a plate, I can't even remember what they were it was that long ago...and I was not in the room...and the plate was like a real plate...ya know part of our set from our wedding, not a kid plate. I know, I know, what was I thinking?! Apparently, I wasn't.

But I heard a plate drop and a child scream in some very immense pain. When I came in, Lane was hunched over the ottoman holding his toe doing the silent cry. I think I had to shake him to start his breathing process back up. Needless to say, he was hurt. The darn thing turned to a bruise instantly. I tried to ice it, he wanted nothing to do with that. He limped on it for 2 days and 3 weeks later it looks like this. Yuck. At least he's not a girl...

(1a. I guess I also need to confess that after seeing that picture, I got out the toenail clippers and manicured them right up! Man, I don't even cut my own toe nails at this point, how am I supposed to remember to keep my child's trimmed?!)

2. One night last week I made a steak and potato kind of dinner and let's just say the steaks, which I bought cause they were on sale, were apparently NOT the grilling kind. Matt and I had 2 very tough steaks on our hands so we tossed them and ate some potatoes, which were good. Then we I decided we should have ice cream for dinner so we hopped in the car and off we went. Unfortunately, there wasn't a Dairy Queen close by that we could find. Where's 251 DQ when you need it?! We literally drove around for an hour-I really wanted a blizzard-we even stopped at the food court at the mall because Google maps said there was a DQ there. I made Matt run in, he happily obliged and came out empty handed....I think I shed a tear or 2. Then we gave in and went downtown for some ice cream at Spill the Beans. I like STB, but it's fancy and I wanted a good ole' DQ Blizzard. Granted, it was not the Blizzard I was envisioning, but it was ice cream and it had chocolate in it so I was happy.

Confessions on a Monday

So as last week wrapped up I wasn't feeling like Super Mom, in the least. I was actually quite sad about it. I am too hard on myself sometime. So I decided to start Confessions on a Monday...you can join me too. It feels good to get it out! And it actually can be quite comical. You don't have to be a Mommy to confess...my confessions just happen to be based around my super awesome parenting skills...;-)
Maybe you want to confess about the 6 pieces of chocolate cake you ate...in one day...or about how you ignored your husband's phone call because you couldn't be bothered while watching The Real Housewives of NYC...it was after all the juicy part where Kelly was going bat sh*t crazy in St. John and who could be bothered while watching a fully grown woman make a complete *ss out of herself.

So here it goes!

  1. I only washed my hair once every 3 days, which calculates to, um, twice? last week
  2. I justified it by not showering until 8 o'clock at night and figuring in 12 hours I would be at the gym so what's the point in using shampoo?!
  3. My son watched Yo Gabba Gabba 3 out of the 6 nights we sat down as a 'family' for dinner. (the 7th night we went out for pizza, fortunately they weren't featuring Gabba on their big screens) He is semi-sick with no appetite and neither Matt nor myself cared to listen to a froggy whiner the entire time we ate...he asked for Gabba...so we gave him Gabba.
  4. Cheerios and Sun Chips were definitely on his menu. If was either that or nothing.
  5. One night, due to some miscommunication, Lane got 2 baths. One at 5 o'clock, by me and one at 8 o'clock, by his Daddy. Yeah, don't ask.
  6. Needless to say...the next night he didn't even get one bath.
  7. Goldfish and applesauce were also on his lunch menu while driving around in the air conditioned car one afternoon during a "showing" because it was so so so hot and we had Harley in the car. I didn't want to leave Harley in the car while we went into the mall or somewhere cool and I definitely didn't want to go somewhere outdoors because I am fat and pregnant and sweaty. So we drove and drove and I'm pretty sure Lane consumed an entire bag of Goldfish.
  8. Matt started a load of laundry on Thursday night at like 10 o'clock because his jeans that he wanted to wear on Friday were dirty. I threw them in the dryer before bed. And there the clothes sat. Yesterday, Lane got into the opened dryer and started taking all the clothes out and putting them in a bucket. You woulda thought this was a sign for me to fold the clothes that were already, after sitting in the dryer for 3 days, wrinkled as heck! But no.
  9. Finally, after sitting down to fold the clothes I noticed that all of my clean laundry from last week were in 2 piles...PJ's and workout clothes...can you guess what my attire has been?!?
So there they are. My confessions on a Monday...anyone else care to share? If so, link up below so we can all read your Confessions on a Monday...or Tuesday...or whenever you have time!
