Easter

If the food groups consisted of Peeps, white chocolate covered pretzels and M&M's Lane would be covered! It's pretty much what his diet has consisted of these past few days.

We had a pretty traditional Easter on Sunday morning.
The Easter bunny visited.

Lane found eggs

and ate chocolate covered pretzels withing the first 30 seconds of being awake.

Parker gave Lane the stink eye because she couldn't reach any of the eggs...

and then when no one was looking she snatched one up and was pleased as punch!

mmmmm...yummy plastic eggs

We made whole wheat pancakes and cut Easter shapes out of them.

And Lane all the sudden went teenager on me when I asked him to get a picture. Is he really rolling his eyes?!

When all the festivities were over, I went to packing. I packed our whole kitchen except for a few necessities. It took me the whole day and I had to have Matt help me finish so I could eat dinner and get to bed at a reasonable hour. Matt worked in the garage and carried boxes in and out. In one short month we will be moving out. Our appraisal came back today and we are extremely pleased!! It came in about $20,000 higher than we were expecting! Yippee!!

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter.

Egg hunt-Check

Flashlight egg hunt-Check

Due to the fact that we attended FOUR egg hunts this weekend, I would say that we have fulfilled our egg hunt duty for at least the next year.

Friday was a flashlight egg hunt and it was a Macaroni event. Lane took some time to warm up. Anything new to him, he needs time to take it all in before he is comfortable. He pretty much is a spitting image of me. So I definitely give him his time. The egg hunt wasn't until dark, which was 8:30 so before that ,he played games, jumped on bounce houses, danced to music and once acclimated, had a good old time!

Saturday I ran my first 5K of the year. I kept about an 8 minute mile pace, despite the fact that there were torrential downpours all throughout and a tornado warning. I was pretty proud to finish.

After the race and a long hot shower, the sun started to come out so Lane and I picked up our friends to go to another egg hunt.

Parker stayed home with Matt because it was in the 60s and very windy so it was kind of chilly.

All the egg hunts we attended were very well organized. There were tons of eggs, I mean tons:

Each child was able to completely fill their basket with eggs. We have enough candy to last us until Halloween!

And each hunt was divided by age group so there was no chaos when hunting. They had such a good time!

Saturday night was another Macaroni event Flashlight egg hunt. I set up a table for the majority of the night by myself and Matt and the kids met me later. I had so much fun. I made macaroni necklaces with all of the kids and they had a blast. Put me back to my teaching days! It was another late night. We stopped at burger place after the egg hunt to grab a burger.

Sunday was our usual funday. Downtown in the morning:

Lane discovered the Splash Pad had been turned on for the season and it was so inviting:

Although it was a little chilly! He was a little wet, but he dried quickly!

And then some nice man asked if we wanted our picture. Sure! Sorry Parks, you were about an hour into your nap by this point.

Then back home to clean out and pack up the garage. Oh boy! Look out!

For Sale!

Lane found a furry friend! We've been really talking about caterpillars and butterflies lately. He's so into it!

Then Daddy was having a little fun.

Cap the weekend off with appetizers and drinks on the patio at Liberty! 'Tis the season!

Happy Easter!

Lane woke up to hidden eggs...well as much as you can hide them from a 1 year old...a basket
and a really cool water table that Matt picked out.

We went out on date night on Saturday because you know, we had free babysitters. Date night included a stop at Toys R' Us before dinner...how romantic! Hah! But actually we had a lot of fun picking stuff out. hehe

On Sunday when Lane woke up, we got him breakfast and then got him ready for church and he didn't seem too interested in the hidden eggs yet. We picked through his basket to find "church-friendly" toys and off we went.

After church we stopped at Falls Park for some pictures. It's become our Easter tradition. Here's last years. Remember...we're making family memories darn-it! ;-)
A really nice picture of Grandma and Grandpa!
And of course, we let Grandma try her hand at some photography and took advantage of some more family pics.

Then we went back home where Lane got really into finding his eggs...once Daddy showed him the goods inside, that is. I put a fruit snack in each one figuring he would want to find more and he did! After seeing the fruit snack surprise he started scouring the house for more eggs. When he found one he did a little dance in circles shaking his egg. He had a little bit of a hard time opening them and getting out the fruit snack so he would ask for help. But when someone wasn't within reach he just took to throwing them on the ground and they opened up themselves! After he found all of the eggs he would pick one up and shake it just to be sure he got out all the fruit snacks that were hidden inside each one.

I prepared Easter breakfast, (with my bloody mary sans vodka that Matt made me)

Lane played with his basket while Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed watching, and Daddy snapped some pictures!

We spent the day outside putting together and playing with his new water table. But he was just as content to play with it without any water.

It felt like summer so we broke out a summer staple...

After a long nap for Grandpa and Lane, we headed out for a walk on the trails downtown and then for some Sunday Funday drinks and appetizers. We ended the night with a cookout and talked about what a nice visit we had! Thanks for spending Easter with us Grandma and Grandpa, it really meant a lot!

Grandma and Grandpa Day 2!

We went to the zoo!

Movie star paparazzi shot
Then we got down to Easter business and started coloring some eggs! Even though Grandpa and Daddy were watching the game...I pleaded that we have DVR and to pause it because we are "making family memories." After all what's technology for?! They came around quickly (after my stern, but loving push) and joined us outside!
Lane, at first wasn't interested in anything but the cut-outs from the box.
And Harley...well he wasn't interested at all...
But once we gave him the first egg and showed him what to do...he was all about it!

Our family eggs...even McBaby got a green, perfectly gender neutral colored egg! :-)
