We're better!

The worst part about being sick is not actually the being sick part, for me anyway. The worst part was trying to catch up. No laundry, dishes or any type of cleaning had been done for 3 days and I was feeling it on Monday. Load upon load of laundry, the disinfecting was in full force. I had to get ready for our party on Tuesday. We managed to have a little fun mixed in with the work. Lane had gotten a little sunflower plant kit in his goody bag from Noah's party so we planted that.

The planting went well, but we'll see how the growing goes!

Our party was so fun! It was for Mac Kid and we partnered with Disney Junior to promote their new show. Here's a few pics and a link to my review in my newsletter.

Doc McStuffins is a doctor of stuffed animals so we had an "animal hospital" for the kids to fix up their stuffed animals.

That was so fun! Thanks to Disney Junior and Mac Kid for the opportunity!
(And thanks to Matt for helping me get ready for the party in one day!)

Today we made moon dough/cloud dough! It's on Pinterest. Super simple and fun! It's flour and baby oil and that's it! You can also add food coloring, but we didn't get that fancy. :-)

Whew! And it's only Thursday! We are so excited because Uncle Luke gets into town Thursday! Kim also called and said she should finish my window treatments sometime Thursday! When Matt puts them up I will be sure to post pics! It's gonna be a good Thursday!

Feeling Green

This St. Patrick's Day we were definitely feeling....GREEN! And not in a good way. I don't want to say this too loud, but (we don't really get sick in this house) <--- I know I just cursed myself.

I NEVER get sick. I can't tell you the last time I was sick. High school? Lane had a bout with pneumonia when he was almost 18 months, but other than that he gets the occasional runny nose and cough. But I must admit that since we started going to the chiropractor, both of their noses have stopped running. Parker just a runny nose and cough since she's been born.

It all started last Sunday. I felt like Parker was a little off. Her eating had taken a back seat and she was just not herself. On Monday, she had a few bad diapers (diarrhea). Tuesday and Wednesday was the same, maybe a little worse. No appetite, a little uncomfortable and whiny. Thursday after we got back from taking Lane to school she fell asleep sitting up on the couch. 1. She NEVER sits on the couch or sits at all. 2. She NEVER falls asleep sitting up?

She was kind of a mess that day and that also happened to be the day we got adjusted. After our 12:15 appointment we stopped for some Pedialtye and came straight home where I immediately started feeling awful. I was nauseous and achy and began throwing up. The lovely part? As if that isn't lovely enough for you...Matt left for Alabama that day and wasn't coming home until Friday night.

Parker and I spent the rest of the day sleeping/laying on the couch while Lane watched Netflix on the computer. <---- Mom of the Year!

I could tell he was not himself either. His appetite was diminished. As if that is possible and didn't each much that day.

Friday he woke up with some diarrhea and still no appetite. But he kept telling me "he felt better." I think it was more that he WANTED to feel better!

Friday night Matt got home and I could tell Parker was starting to bounce back. Saturday morning I was up at 5:30 and sick. I heard Lane and went up to see what he needed and he told me his legs hurt. Lovely! Round 3! He went back to bed and around 7 I heard him again. I went upstairs and found him laying in the middle of the hallway. His eyes were half open and he said, "Mom you carry me." Poor guy! He laid on the couch for a little while and looked very sleepy, but as soon as Matt got home he was up and at 'em and didn't really want to stop the whole day.

No leprechaun turning the toilet green or fancy green breakfast or anything that I had planned for St Patrick's Day got done. Heck, the green shirt Lane put on that morning

he had vomited on at lunch so this is what he looked like by afternoon:

Parker learned a new word when she and Lane opened up their St Patrick's Day cards from Grandma and Grandpa.

By Sunday, we were all mostly on the mend, although none of us wanted to look at, let alone eat a morsel of food.

We had Noah's birthday party Sunday afternoon and then we headed to Gafney for a rug for our living room. I still had to prepare for a party at our house happening on Tuesday with about 20 moms and their kiddos. It was a screening party for a new show on Disney Junior called Doc McStuffins. Unfortunately, we didn't get home until 7 so the party prep would have to wait until Monday.

Some pictures from the party.

My BABY was just a BABY

when I had another BABY.

I found this picture the other day on my desktop and it made me realize that Lane was still such a baby when Parker was born. Oh my! These are the days...

It's our weekly check-in and guess what...

it's a picnic!
When I pick Lane up at school now he asks me if I have a picnic in the car...what have I started?!?!

This week I was lazy and picked up lunch at CFA. Really I just ran out of time (and was lazy) before having to leave to get Lane. Kim came over and we picked out fabric for some window treatments in the kitchen and dining room she is going to make for me!! Exciting! Don't worry, I'll share!

Sister showing some love, but really, she just wants his chicken nuggets. :-)

Yay for summer!

I KNOW you are all pinning now! I started my love affair sometime last Spring when I discovered it was necessary during the planning and building of my house! Many Pinterest ideas/dreams were carried throughout. A few months ago I was asked to create and manage our National Pinterest site for Macaroni Kid. So now I am in charge of our Pinterest website for Macaroni Kid National! (Yes, I get paid to Pin!!!!)

I also have one set-up for my local edition of Greenville Macaroni Kid.

You can find them here and here! I'd love for you to follow both boards. We focus on kid and family friendly ANYTHING!! And of course, I'll follow you back!

Thanks!

Fire Station

Our play group went to a local fire station a few weeks back. Lane was absolutely THRILLED to be there. It has enhanced his passion to be a "firefighter when he grows up" even more.

Parker was a little scared of the big fire truck, but I torchered her for a picture.

Happy guy

When we were getting ready to leave...and we were one of the last to leave...Lane said "I want to go and tell them thank you." So he waited his turn to talk and then told them. Very cute!

Parent's Night Out, Running and Beer Walks

Friday we took the kids to their first Parent's Night Out at the Y. It's from 6:30-10:30 and it's free! They split the kids up into age groups so they are always doing activities appropriate for their age. That also meant Parker and Lane were split up. I was not worried about Lane at all because he was going to be with his best bud Noah. But Parker, I was a tad nervous about. She was in the baby room (and was one of the oldest) which she is used to because that's where she goes when I drop her off when I work out. I was most nervous about the time because she's usually in bed by 7-7:30.

She also didn't really know what was going on, which I was the most sad about. I packed her milk and her blankie and hoped she would be fine.

We went to dinner with friends and then stopped for one drink before heading over around 10 to pick them up. Although I had a GREAT night out, I could not wait to go and get my little Parkie. When she came around the corner holding one of the ladies's hands she looked a little bit confused, like where are they taking me, but then she spotted me and smiled so big and started yelling momma! I kept asking her if she had fun and she always said "yeah" in her soft sweet Parker voice. They said she did so good for her first time and I was so proud of her! Of course, when they brought Lane, he was all smiles and he had a great time! They were both a little bit delirious on our ride home. They were laughing hysterically at something, but it was after 10 so that could have had something to do with it!

We definitely will be taking advantage of that again. It's once a month on the 2nd Friday of each month. But you have to sign up early because the spots fill up fast.

Everyone slept in a little yesterday because of our late night except for Matt. He had a 1/2 to run. Once the kids woke up, I got them ready and we headed to see Matt finish his race. He was trying to qualify for a good starting point at the Chicago Marathon and he did! We spent the morning outside downtown at Starbucks and then we went to lunch with friends.

Parker was so tired from her big night out that she fell asleep in my arms at the table.

When we got home, everyone took naps and I watched a chick flick. Something I haven't done in a very long time! It was so nice (and quiet!)

Lane had been dying to take a walk to ride his bike so we headed to The Community Tap, our neighborhood growler station, to pick up some beverages for the night. :-)

And we had the perfect growler transporters!

We're headed to the Return to the Green today so I'll be back later with some very green pictures! :-)

New Home Tour: {Dining Room}

And here you have it!

The End!

I told you it wasn't very big. Just enough space for a table, a hutch and some stools. :-)

This will most likely be my next room. It's the "formal living room." I'm not sure what I will do with it because we aren't very formal...right now it's just a storage room for our old couch, old rug and some old lamps. Oh and it also serves as a 2nd toy room...and this is clean! No joke!

(Do you like my attempt at hiding the ugly GOLD fireplace!)

Also on the "Rooms to Complete Start Scope" are the kid's rooms. Parker still has 2 flannels sheets as curtains and Lane just finally upgraded from sleeping on his mattress and box spring on the floor to sleeping on his new bed. I have inspiration for both of their rooms, but I just have to get going on it! It will help that for Parker's room I am doing an ad campaign with Pottery Barn Kids for Macaroni Kid. We will get an allowance to spend on a room and then we have to write an article showing before and after pics and explain the products we used, share it on Pinterest, and voila! Parker will have a new room with the help of Pottery Barn Kids! Thank you Mac Kid! I, of course, will share on here when? if? all of that happens anytime soon!
