RIP my little Jeep

Things have been crazy and hectic at times around here. Life doesn't just stop because we've added a new tiny member to the family.

I mentioned a few posts back that the Jeep was giving us problems. After 3 long weeks of not having a car, or a very reliable one to drive, we finally pulled the plug and bought a new one. The Jeep, still remains a mystery. We had it to the Jeep dealership in which they diagnosed the complete wrong problem and we picked it up and never looked back. And then we had it to a mechanic...a very good and honest mechanic at that. He worked long and hard on the darn thing, he reimbursed us almost $300 in parts that we paid for since they didn't fix the problem (seriously, who does that?!?! we are so fortunate to have such a nice and honest man working on it) and then he basically raised the white flag. He was at a loss as to what the exact problem was.

I knew things weren't looking good when Matt couldn't really pinpoint the problem in the beginning of this mess. He is very good with cars and when he drove it to the dealership one day to get checked out, I knew we were probably doomed.

So after picking it up countless times from the mechanic who *thought* the problem was fixed, we basically drove it right back each time after it died on us during our ride. Lane and I have been stranded at his school parking lot, where luckily, they had a playground where we could kill some time until it decided to start again. We have been stranded on the side of 385 and also in the middle of Rutherford Rd. Yikes!

But the darn thing, it always started back up. And always was drivable. You just ran the risk of it dying on you in the middle of the street. It wasn't fun. I hate car problems and Matt, who works 25 miles from our house, had to be our chauffeur. That didn't really work out too well for him. He was taking Lane to and from school 2 days a week and driving me to Dr.'s appointments when I was pregnant. Good thing his boss is understanding!

So we finally took it to Carmax last Tuesday and when they told us they would buy it for $4,000 we quickly signed on the dotted line, took the money and ran!

This was the last photo. :-( I am sad, but not really since it was so touch and go for me the last few weeks we had it. It was a GREAT car. Got us to and from so many places and took us back and forth from SC to IL so many times without any problems.

We had been using one car for the past 3 weeks so what was a couple of days more going to hurt. It was crunch time though. We had to start looking for something. I had in mind what I wanted and Matt had in mind what he wanted. We had our price range and we had our list of musts:

*SUV of some sort
*3rd row would be really really nice
*safe
*sunroof (my specification)
*not an old person color (again that would be me)

We spent 2 nights last week, with 2 babies in tow, which makes it hard to test drive, but we finally found THE ONE!

Here she is:

Well her back end anyway!

Isn't she purty?

This car was one that Matt and I both agreed we liked...whew! Good thing! I wasn't sure we would agree on something.

It's got a little bit of something for everyone.

A sunroof for me and 6-disc CD changer and 3rd ROW!! I can fit strollers and grocery bags and MOW bags and a dog and transport additional people besides Lane and Parker.

I was so glad we found something with 3rd row. Now when we have visitors, they don't have to drive themselves around Greenville.

This for the babies:

Yep they each have their own. You can see Parker is really unimpressed!

And a V8 for Daddy

The car is loaded and does more things than I even know how to control. I'm still trying to figure out how to lock and unlock the doors and you should have seen me trying to open the gas tank this morning. It was the first time for me to put gas in the darn thing! The best part is Volvo is highly rated for safety so I feel good driving my babies around in it! Lane loves his new car and always asks to go for a ride in the Volvo. Yes he calls it the Volvo and he says it sooo cute!

I'll really miss the Jeep, but I think I can get used to the Volvo!

Inquiring Minds

First off, thank you for all the sweet comments, phone calls, e-mails, and text messages. It warms our heart to know so many share the same joy we have about adding to our family!
I have about a million posts waiting to be published, but since we had so many questions about the baby details here it goes!

  • I am 16 weeks and due in September.
  • I have been feeling great after getting past the first 10 weeks. I was a little nauseous and sicky, but the feeling of tired took a little bit longer to subside.
  • Overall I feel great and despite the teenage acne and the impending can't-decide-if-I- have-a-baby-belly-or-beer-belly, I am doing my best to look great. Although that proves to be hard some days.
  • We've had our first ultrasound at 13 weeks and McBaby looked great too!
  • Of course, Lane doesn't really know what's going on, but I've taught him there is a baby in my belly so he points to it and says 'baby?' But he also points to Matt's belly and says baby, if that means anything to you.
  • They'll be almost exactly 2 years apart so by then he may have a better idea.
  • We most definitely won't be finding out the sex again and NO anonymous commenter mom I don't wish we were having twins.
  • I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the idea of having 2 and that's enough for me to handle at this point.:-) Plus we already had a 13 week ultrasound in which there was a bouncing and active single baby in there.
  • I'll leave the twin making to your second born, doesn't it run in Ty's family? ;-)
  • And overall we are just so happy that we are so blessed.
  • More baby posts soon...and also our visit with Grandma and Grandpa!
