Sister Puss

My sister and I call each other sister puss or SP. It came about when we noticed my Aunt Maria and her sister Gena call each other that on FB. We loved it and it just kinda stuck! Thanks for that original SP's! ;-)



I really have no words for how important and special my sister is to me. Our relationship has evolved over the years. We started out as playmates and then turned to enemies. It took a little growing, a lot of miles, and some realization that we are so lucky to have each other. I could totally write down my MOH speech right now because every word I said is true! I'm just so glad to have her. She has gotten me through a lot of happy, sad, hard, frustrating, and hilarious times. She is definitely my most frequent visitor and I am so glad for that! Because the time we spend apart, even though we talk everyday, is sometimes too much to bear.

There is no better friend than a sister. And there is no better sister than you!







We just realized that Matt had been photographing that whole scene!

What! She had something in her tooth. I couldn't let her get a picture with spices in her teeth.




Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there. Love you SP!

2 Vacations in one...Last Day

Oh!


No! Not the last day...


The last day was really great. There were no meltdowns...not even small ones...




Lane took a 3 hour nap in his stroller without even needing to be "put" to sleep with a walk.


I gave him his paci...swaddled him up (have I ever told you my love for swaddling? I'm obsessed...when I see a small baby in public with their arms a-flailing, I just wanna grab a blanket and wrap them like a burrito!) Anyway...told him to go "night-night" and just like that he fell asleep...for hours! These pictures were taken a few hours apart...the paci even came out...now that's a sign of a good sleep!


Lace and I moved with the tide and sat near the water and dipped in our feet. We talked about everything under the sun and snacked on cheese and crackers...all the while Lane stayed within a good eye's distance.


When he finally woke up, he was raring to go! But first a snack...


Then his snack went into the ocean...luckily there weren't too many left...I hope the sea creatures like whole grain Goldfish!

Despite the sand in his eyelashes...we chalked it up as a good day!

2 Vacations in one...Part 3

We were right! The rainbow brought the most perfect beach weather we could have asked for!

After a fall down 4 concrete stairs, with somehow, a saved ice cream cone...we decided to call it a night!

2 Vacations in 1...Part 2

Day 2 brought another nasty diaper, but he wasn't acting the least bit sick. I decided to stick with the BRATY diet for him. So for breakfast for Lane: some yogurt and a piece of toast with jelly and some Gatorade mixed with water to drink.

No wonder it was so windy the previous day...a storm was rolling in...well not really with thunder and lightning, but just a lot of rain. I think it was the remnants of what TN got and what Greenville got the day before. After breakfast we were able to get in our walk on the beach, but not long after that the rain came.

One might think a beach vacation was ruined by a day of rain, but we took the opportunity to go into Charleston and take Lane to the aquarium. We were also a little crispy from the day before so we thought it was a good chance to give our skin a break. You can just see the humidity in the air.

The kids play area was set-up like a forest and campsite and he loved it. We probably spent most of our time there.

After the aquarium we headed to the grocery store and then back to the room so Lane could nap.

Lacey and I picnicked on our balcony while Lane slept a really long time. We decided to venture out a bit for dinner since he slept really well and wouldn't need to be back to the hotel for bed.

A little comparison from last year.

After dinner the rain had stopped...Finally! Lane enjoyed running up and down the ramp and stairs to the restaurant. (Note his cute WHITE linen pants)

Oh he had a ball...up and down, up and down...I know you know what's coming next...

CRASH!

All we heard was "OH MAN!" from Lane and we turned around to see some nice white pants now covered in mud. :sigh: We walked back to the car...me a little annoyed at the whole situation. (What did I expect, I put white pants on an almost 2 year old!?)

But as we were getting in the car and pulling out we saw the most beautiful rainbow.

You could see it from end to end and right above it there was another one. It was the calm after the storm and then we knew that this rainbow would bring a brighter tomorrow!
