'ide?' 'ide?'

Translates into hide.
When my mom and dad visited, (yes this post is from about a month ago) my mom started Lane on a hiding kick. She would hide and he would run to find her and then he would leave the room and when he came back she would be in a different spot, but he always went to the old spot she was in. It was really cute to watch and now he loves playing 'ide.' So every night when I say let's go upstairs and read some books he runs to the stairs and starts his climb.

Matt usually comes up too and we all take turns hiding and then jumping out when we are found. It's not a very quiet or soothing before-bed activity, but he loves it and we get some laughs out of it too!

What a cheese face. I think he was anticipating the flash?

Loving' on his Harley.

Running

from

room to room!

'ide?' 'ide?' Can you see his little mouth saying that?

Then it was Daddy's turn to hide...(this progression cracks me up!)

Lane looking for Daddy...

Daddy jumps out and scares Lane...(check out that face...this man doesn't mess around when he's scaring people, even if they are 1)

Lane laughing and screaming and running away...Daddy cracking up. Matt comes by this honest folks...from his Dad! Trust me, I've heard stories!

And he always comes back for more....

After riling him up, we try to calm down with about 16 books (per his request) and then it's off to bed. And bedtime seems to be getting later and later with this weather and time change. We are outside just about every night so by the time we come in and eat dinner and do bath time, it's near 9 o'clock when we are going up to put him to bed. But I don't mind too much because later bedtime=later morning. The child sleeps in like a teenager! I can get a lot done around here bright and early on the morning, but it is an inconvenience when we have somewhere to be in the morning and he's still sleeping.

He does laundry AND cleans the floors...

Normally laundry is not a favorite past time of mine...but today it wasn't so bad. I had a sweet surprise when I opened the laundry basket!

This boy loves to clean.

Always playing with my Swiffer or broom.

Or using a towel, Harley's bandana, a napkin, anything to clean the floors.

He loves to make a mess (i.e. dump out his milk) and then "clean" it up.

This prompted me to get this for him for Christmas! Hope he likes it!

Next we'll teach him to take out the garbage and not just sit in the cabinet that houses it.

Which outfit is first?

*** Update*** So it went really well. We started here at our house, then hit downtown, and ended up at the park. We got all outfit changes in and had a blast with our photographer Tracie. I can't wait to see the pics. Lane was great. He was himself which we couldn't ask for anything different, and by himself I mean you will probably see some sour puss faces in some of the pictures! LOL! Matt told her "Just keep taking them, we want to see Lane in his true form!"

He was great as long as we weren't trying to hold him. He wanted to roam free, but luckily that's kind of the feel I wanted. Nothing too posy, just US in our natural, fun form! I'll try to post them when I get a password. She spent 2.5 hours with us so she probably has about 500 pictures to go through!*** Until then, I will be patiently waiting. :-) And by patiently I mean calling her every other day... ;-)

Original Post:
This is the first thing Matt said to me this morning besides"Mornin', Buddy!" It made me laugh although he wasn't trying to be funny. He was dead serious when he asked "Which outfit is first?" I guess he knows how serious I am about these pictures!! LOL!

I have 2 outfits planned, but I won't be heart-broken if we only wear one. We also have a few of our favorite Greenville locations we will be visiting, although I won't be heartbroken if we can't hit any. Lane is still sleeping so that's good. Our session will last as long as those pesky canines allow. I feel so bad for him. Poor guy, his gums are BULGING in all 4 spots and really giving him a hard time. We do have white poking through in 3 of the spots so here's to hoping this won't last too much longer for him.

We'll do our best to bring out the best in him, even if that means downing some Motrin before leaving the house.

And speaking of outfits...A baby after my own heart!

As soon as we got home from the mall last night he went straight for the shopping bag.
He feels the same joy I do when carrying a shopping bag!

For Aunt Cece

Aunt Cece requested these pictures of Lane in his hat because after all, she did buy it for him...oh about 9 months ago or so. You see Aunt Cece has an obsession of buying my little guy clothes, shoes, hats, coats, lots and lots of coats. And she buys stuff for him that will fit him in oh about 2 years from now...just kidding....sort of.

The on-going joke was after Lane was born I would get a phone call saying "What size do you think Lane will wear next Christmas, 2 Novembers from now, the Easter after next, etc?" And he was only 2 months old, so I would look at him so tiny and small and say "I have no idea!" LOL! So that brings me to the puppy hat and gloves. I think she got those for him last Easter??? Or I could be mistaken and she brought them to us last Thanksgiving.

And while it is cute, I'm not so sure it's cute for a 15 month old. What are your thoughts? I know he is still a baby, but I guess I have the mentality of dressing him like a little man. When I buy stuff for Lane I try to picture if it's something Matt would wear....lol! (Are you picturing Matt in the puppy hat?!) Or those outfits that are all one piece...am I the only one that thinks he's too old to wear those??? Matt thought this one was a little much, and this one too, but I thought they were cute and he was still young enough to pull it off!

We LOVE her though and her extreme generosity to the Did-man. And because she is so good to Lane and his wardrobe her requests must be fulfilled. I think he looks pretty cute in the hat. It actually makes me laugh to see him walk around with those ears flopping around! BUT Matt has other words about the hat, that I won't repeat and as you can see, Lane is not a fan. But as she requested, we will bring them home over Christmas. He hasn't needed the hat here so hopefully he will get some use out of it back in IL. And plus, she can see Lane wearing it and we will make sure Daddy is not with us! ;-)

P.S. Stayed tuned for his Christmas outfit. Lacey purchased that for him when he was just a wee one and I tried it on him the other day....lookout! Adorable!

Hugs and Kisses

It's so hard to keep from asking for a hug and kiss every minute of the day...lol! It's just so cute. But he doesn't seem to mind for the time being so we take advantage of his willingness! He especially loves when we ask for a hug cause then he 'runs' over. It never gets old.

And last night was the first time he attempted 'cheese.' It made me laugh the way he does it, pretty good for his first attempt.

Matt, Matt, Matt

This was Saturday when he started calling Matt by his name. Too funny!

Now it goes like this:

Me: Lane, where's Harley?
Lane: :looks at Harley:
Me: Lane, where's Daddy?
Lane: "Matt, Matt, Matt" :points and looks at Matt if he's in the room:
Me: Lane, where's mommy?
Lane: :blank stares......................................................................

You know...when

You know you've wiped your baby's nose one too many times in the last two weeks when...

a napkin, to him, is the coolest thing since sliced bread and he crawls around wiping everything in sight. Including (but not limited to):

the floor

Harley's nose

the stove

his toys

matt's supplies

AAAND himself

You know you've been to Home Depot one too many times in a weekend when...

the employees start recognizing you and your baby at TWO different Home Depot stores!

You know you've had experience talking your husband into doing a project (or two) ;-) when:

he starts a backsplash at 1 pm on a Sunday afternoon with little or no negotiating! ('After' pictures to follow when it's all finished!)
